Abstract

Glowarm Traders is a fictional company that constructs and installs ornamental fireplaces. Glowarm Traders MYOB v 17 Accounting Practice Set is intended to introduce students to MYOB Accounting Plus v17. It gives students experience in keeping a computerised set of books for two accounting periods [including perpetual inventory] and is suitable for use by students studying introductory accounting units and using textbooks such as Horngren Accounting 5th edition.

Working the practice set will give students experience in a simulated environment in handling a number of common business transactions affecting a small to medium business over two accounting periods and should ensure a greater appreciation of:

(a) the steps required in the accounting cycle
(b) how the accounting cycle culminates in the production of monthly financial reports
(c) balance-day adjustments
(d) reconciling bank accounts, accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory and GST
(e) the preparation of the Business Activity Statement
