Abstract

Increasing usage of computer and related tools influenced foreign language teaching and learning, and CALL has been widely implemented in foreign language classes. This research explores the perception of foreign language learners on their writing skills after having engaged in the email correspondence activity with native users. Although email correspondence with a native user is evaluated as one of the modern and effective learning method that motivates learners, in depth investigation is necessary to fully utilize the advantage. Online questionnaire was distributed to the learners who experienced the email correspondence activity in order to investigate the effects of the activity on their writing skills. Althought the research could not identify specific influence of email correspondence on learner's writing skill as it was designed, most of learners showed positive images on the activity. This research contributes to the field of foreign language learning, and provides an opportunity for language instructors to revise and explore their teaching methods.
