Abstract

Marvel films are usually directed by well known directors who have significant experience in directing big budget films. Black Widow is directed by Cate Shortland, an Australian director known for small, intimate low-budget dramas. This article looks at the after attributes Shortland brought to this film and why it needed to be handled by a more nuanced director.
