Abstract

Over the past decade and beyond, the Australian agriculture industry has benefited enormously from growth in the Chinese export market, but in 2020 it has been threatened by a volley of barriers to trade on beef, barely, wine and cotton. With a panel of experts in China and Australian trade, our October event will detail recent developments in the Sino-Australian political and trade relationship, present new research on the causes and impacts of the barriers to trade and seek to generate an open dialogue about how Australian agricultural interests can be best dealt with and managed in the current trade situation.

Facilitated by ABC Country Hour's Arlie Felton-Taylor, our panel of experts will include Jeffrey Wilson from Perth USAsia Centre, Scott Waldron from the University of Queensland and Ben Lyons from the Rural Economies Centre.
