Neville, Christine and Beccaria, Lisa and Carey, Melissa (2019) Withdrawal versus continuation of long-term antipsychotic drug use for behavioural and psychological symptoms in older people with dementia. Issues in Mental Health Nursing . ISSN 0161-2840

Abstract

The objective of this Cochrane Database Systematic review was to evaluate the success of withdrawing antipsychotic drugs from people with BPSD who reside in primary care or nursing home settings (Van Leeuwen et al., 2018). Additionally, other outcomes considered, that are of relevance to nursing, included different strategies used for the withdrawal of antipsychotic drugs and the measurement of effects of withdrawal of antipsychotic drugs on BPSD and assess safety issues such as mortality, adverse effects or antipsychotic withdrawal symptoms.
