Abstract
Algae-biomass can contribute to solve the four main key challenges which modern society faces: security of energy, water, and food supplies and climate protection. The crucial importance of these issues and the complexity and sensitivity of their interactions suggest that a coordinated, strategic management approach would be beneficial from a global perspective.
