Abstract

In rural Queensland at the moment, and indeed across Australia, many families and individuals are quietly suffering extreme stress and anxiety caused by a range of factors.Significantly, a considerable number of these people are males of differing ages who find it very difficult to communicate with others about their problems.

The Centre For Rural and Remote Area Health (CRRAH) has identified this issue of rural men coping with difficult times as one that needs addressing. A lot of thought and research has gone into gathering information and specific comment from men who could give first hand experiences of a range of these situations, and this publication is an attempt to provide ten useful examples for the benefit of others.
