Preventive detention in New Zealand: a critical comparative analysis

Gray, Anthony (2015) Preventive detention in New Zealand: a critical comparative analysis. New Zealand Universities Law Review, 26 (3). pp. 557-586. ISSN 0549-0618

Abstract

This paper considers a new New Zealand preventive detention regime whereby an offender thought likely to re-offend once released may be locked up for a further period. It considers the New Zealand law in light of comparable regimes elsewhere, and its compatibility with the New Zealand Bill of Rights Act 1990.
