Abdudayem, Abdulmagid and James, Kieran and Scott, Albert (2013) Review of agricultural water management policies in near east and North African region in light of water scarcity. African Journal of Economic and Sustainable Development, 2 (2). pp. 122-138. ISSN 2046-4770
Abstract
This paper explores the current debate about water management policies and the factors affecting their formulation and implementation in the arid and semi-arid zones of the Near East and North African Region (NENAR).
In this context, relevant and significant experiences of other countries in the world facing similar challenges are also considered (Sachdeva, 2009). The literature pertaining to water management policies is examined to better
understand the processes and the experiences of water management reform in these countries and the variables affecting them. Review of different water management policies should provide insights into the parameters and scope of research into improving water use efficiency in agriculture and the effect of water price on farmers' viability. This review will allow both an identification of, and an investigation into, the challenges faced by policymakers in framing water policies linked to water.
