Abstract

Al-Skeini and Others v the UK concerned the treatment of Iraqi civilians and detainees by U.K. soldiers during the occupation phase of the Iraq conflict. The case highlights the impact of human rights law, in particular the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms (the 'Convention') and Human Rights Act 1998 (U.K.) (HR Act 1998) on the military.
