Country towns in a big Australia: the decentralisation debate revisited

Collits, Paul (2010) Country towns in a big Australia: the decentralisation debate revisited. In: 3rd National Country Towns Conference: Sustainability of Australia’s Country Towns Conference, 30 Sept - 1 Oct 2010, Bendigo, Victoria.

Abstract

Senior Research Fellow Paul Collits analyses new solutions for handling a bigger population. He suggests governments shouldn’t impose decentralisation on regional areas but rather leave it up to regional areas to drive their own economic futures which would benefit all country towns, not just spill-over cities.
