Abstract
[Abstract]: This study explores students' uses of wireless handheld devices such as handheld PCs, PDAs and smart phones by investigating the relationship between their performance and specific variables. A survey approach was adopted to record the views of selected Iranian university students. A total of 300 survey questionnaires was distributed and 150 usable responses were analysed through a regression analysis to explore the relationship between the dependent and independent variables. The objective of the study is to understand the phenomenon of using wireless handheld devices in higher education. The results of the study indicate that facilitating conditions, usability, and behaviour and attitude of the user have a direct relationship to the performance of wireless handheld devices in higher education settings. The study also found that facilitating conditions and attitude have a strong influence on the performance of those devices in those settings.
