Abstract

Constructivist research and critical, postmodern and feminist methodology are related to each other. These methodologies use qualitative research methods extensively. Qualitative research is the most appropriate approach when one is studying human feelings, actions and values. The main aim of this section is to provide the researcher with the knowledge and skills to be able to (a) design and using philosophical arguments, defend qualitative research within sports science (b) design research that maintains consistency between methodology, research design, data collection and data analysis methods (c) conduct in-depth interviews in way that produce high quality data and (d) select and apply appropriate qualitative data analysis process carefully matching the chosen technique to the research tradition, the research question and the purpose of the study.
