Abstract
All of the papers included in this special issue, clearly identify a number of research and development areas required for the application of hyperspectral sensing to agriculture and natural resource management to become more widespread. While basic scientific and exploratory applications are common, the routine use and adoption of these technologies across agricultural industries and natural resource management agencies is rare. We hope this special issue contributes to increasing the potential for operational use by showing examples of what is possible and operational in some areas, along with highlighting issues requiring urgent attention to make these data more accessible and usable
