Abstract

This paper proposes a novel method to study the modelling problem of a networked control system. We first identify the minimum packet drop sequences for a given plant or controller using the dynamics of the plant or controller. Then we represent these minimum packet drop sequences as states of a Markov chain. The state transition of the Markov chain is triggered at each packet transmission. Finally, this new modelling technique is demonstrated using the most commonly employed PID controller.
