Formula SAE: design overview and project management

Abstract

This project aimed to develop effective design management tools and practices to assist in the integration of all aspects of the design and construction of a race car. The race car was designed and manufactured by a team of university students. Project and design management techniques were investigated and applied to the project team. This empowered the team to work effectively together. Successful integration of the vehicles' systems was achieved and the race car is now in the final stages of construction. Management of the project team and the design process was found to be essential to the efficient completion of any complex engineering project.
