Abstract

The 21st century brings a diverse set of challenges which are fundamentally changing the way organisations are operating. These challenges are the result of times of uncertainty and insecurity caused by rapid changes in the external and internal environments of organisations. In view of this competitive reality faced by Australian leaders, the following question could be asked: what are some of the contemporary issues and emerging themes in leadership? The objective of this chapter is to address some of the answers to this question.
