Abstract

[Abstract]: This paper will describe the process of professional or pedagogical conversations that was used by a team of teacher educators to reflect on their literacy pedagogies and their practices as the ‘teachers’ of future literacy teachers. Through these conversations, the teacher educators discussed their understandings of literacies within the broader contested field of literacies education and found ways of working with diversity within a team approach to teaching. The paper will also provide details of the themes and issues that emerged during one conversation and will demonstrate how this process enabled the team to engage in ongoing professional development as it designed, implemented, evaluated and redesigned learning opportunities for pre‐service teachers.
