Abstract

[Abstract]: A novel wireless remote video surveillance system based on joint source-channel coding is proposed in this paper. The proposed system exhibits superior bandwidth and power efficiency thanks to the adoption of the proposed iteratively decodable variable-length codes (IDVLCs). An experimental platform was built and simulation results were shown to demonstrate the superior performance of the proposed video surveillance system in terms of both objective and subjective measurements.
