Abstract
[Executive Summary]: The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate the central importance of elearning to the success of the National Programme for IT (NPfIT), and to provide an introduction to the activities, projects and products already in existence or under development at a national level. It is not a comprehensive treatment of elearning in the health sector, but a high level overview of how it relates to, and is affected by, NPfIT in particular. It forms part of a much larger strategic initiative, which is more fully conveyed in the National Workforce Group’s ‘Road Map for Elearning’ (Modernising Healthcare Training: Elearning in Healthcare Services, April 2006).
