Abstract

Yan Li is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Computing at the University of Southern Queensland (USQ). Yan is the founder of USQ Cisco Networking Academy and the winner of 2008 Queensland Government Smart Women-Smart State Award in the category of Community/Public Sector – ICT, for her innovation and leadership in incorporating Cisco Certified Networking Associate (CCNA) courses into USQ Networking Program. Having recognised the need to reconstruct the major after teaching the networking courses for several years, Yan was determined to make every effort to bring the project to fruition. Yan was born in China. At the age of 15, she was admitted to one of the top universities, HuaZhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), in China. She later became a lecturer in HUST, and studied in Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Yan obtained her PhD degree from The Flinders University of South Australia in 2003.
