Abstract
Despite awareness of problems caused by noise, it is true to say that the average building & workplace almost everywhere is much noisier than it should be. In the past, noise has too often been accepted as a necessary evil. Today this need not be and building owners and industrialists are being pressed by tenants, governments and workers alike to ensure that a reasonable working environment is maintained. In most cases, acoustic technology and noise control hardware is sufficiently advanced to permit the efficient and econmic solution of the most daunting noise problem. It is the aim of this research project to look into the noise transmission problem encountered in an existing plant room, before developing solution to achieve the requirement.
